In order to enhance readability and to be POSIX compliant you should no longer use backticks to encapsulate commands. The modern and preferred syntax is $(command). This allows much easier command encapsulation without escaping multiple backticks. Additionally instead of leveraging a series of semicolon delimited commands you can instead do a cat << EOF > ~ec2-user/foo.sh #!/bin/sh # commands here EOF chmod 755 ~ec2-user/foo.sh Makes things a bit more readable and includes the shebang in the script.

Unable to create stack in my cloudformation, without getting enough authority happened and it's unable for me to fix the problem so i guess i could only give up this course for now.

there is some error with the REGION of the bucket - please take a look and correct this. I had to still use manually --region parameter in my scrip to copy the site to S3 as well as in the cron file
