The Second (updated) deployment didn't work

Task definition update did not work. Added two new tasks on revision 4 but left the old 3 running. Tried to force an update, and that just deleted the new ones and was still left with the original three. Never saw the updated task definition deployed. Lab does not do a good job of letting you know how long and when you need to wait. Should target group draining timeout have been set lower?
