probably the named port setting in managed group is needed, without the definition http -> 80 the loadbalancing is not retrieving the port 80 - this also means that the previous lab should be updated. Next the application port information in left menu is confusing, i was trying to find an error by somehow using the port. And last, the definition of the startup script is also confusing, it is set to create a file maybe it should be written somewhere that there is an option to load the metadata startup.sh script from a file, which is more convenient.

super difficult to achieve, I missed some kind of specific feedback on what was wrong instead of a generic message. Otherwise, it was really hard to troubleshoot.

Creating the health check within gcloud did not automatically apply it to the managed group. I had to go into the UI to apply the health check.
